The Isle of Someday Do you live on the Isle of Someday? You are probably saying, "I've never heard of it. Where is it?" Well, you won't find it in any atlas or on any globe. That's because the Isle of Someday is a state of mind. It resides inside of you. The size of the isle is sometimes quite large and other times rather small. It all depends on how often you say or think the phrase "someday I'll". We all do it. Some of us do it more than others. Whenever you find yourself saying or thinking someday I'll do this or someday I'll do that you know you are living on the Isle of Someday. I bet some of your family and friends also live on that isle! The Isle of Someday is filled with wishes and day dreams. Do these statements sound familiar? Someday I'll go back to school You get the idea of what life is like on the Isle of Someday. It is future oriented filled with wishes. You will find lots of words and few actions. It's a safe hiding place with nothing ventured, nothing gained. Failure isn't even a blip on the screen. The question you need to ask yourself is how gratifying and fulfilling is life on that Isle? Are you ready to step off onto new ground? I invite you to create your own "Someday I'll" list. List as many things as you can think that fall into that category. Now select 2 items from the list that you are willing to do in the next thirty days. Think of how you will feel when you actually turn your words into actions. Life is too short to spend it waiting to live! The clock just keeps ticking away. Take the wishes off your Isle of Someday and turn them into actions for your Isle of Today and enjoy the journey. What are you waiting for? Ask yourself, if not now, when? "The future ain't what it used to be." "Safety is well and good. I prefer freedom." "Today is the first day of the rest of your life." Change Begins With Choice by Jim Rohn Any day we wish; we can discipline ourselves to change it all. Any day we wish; we can open the book that will open our mind to new knowledge. Any day we wish; we can start a new activity. Any day we wish; we can start the process of life change. We can do it immediately, or next week, or next month, or next year. We can also do nothing. We can pretend rather than perform. And if the idea of having to change ourselves makes us uncomfortable, we can remain as we are. We can choose rest over labor, entertainment over education, delusion over truth, and doubt over confidence. The choices are ours to make. But while we curse the effect, we continue to nourish the cause. As Shakespeare uniquely observed, "The fault is not in the stars, but in ourselves." We created our circumstances by our past choices. We have both the ability and the responsibility to make better choices beginning today. Those who are in search of the good life do not need more answers or more time to think things over to reach better conclusions. They need the truth. They need the whole truth. And they need nothing but the truth. We cannot allow our errors in judgment, repeated every day, to lead us down the wrong path. We must keep coming back to those basics that make the biggest difference in how our life works out. And then we must make the very choices that will bring life, happiness and joy into our daily lives. And if I may be so bold to offer my last piece of advice for someone seeking and needing to make changes in their life - If you don't like how things are, change it! You're not a tree. You have the ability to totally transform every area in your life - and it all begins with your very own power of choice.
